UK Welcomes Over 170 Nigerian Scholars From Prestigious Programs
Eko Hot Blog reports that the British High Commission in Nigeria announced it has received 178 exceptional Nigerian scholars and fellows who recently finished studies through the prestigious Chevening and Commonwealth United Kingdom scholarship programs.

The scholars pursued a diverse range of master’s degrees, fellowships and PhD programs, according to a statement from the commission’s Senior Communications Officer Atinuke Akande-Alegbe on Friday.
The scholarships are awarded to those demonstrating intellectual ability, leadership potential and a commitment to developing their home country. The Chevening Scholarship has granted 1500 Nigerians the opportunity to study in the UK over 40 years.
This year, 44 Chevening Scholars and 134 Commonwealth Scholars from Nigeria were welcomed. Over 100 Nigerians benefit annually from the postgraduate and fellowship funding. The Commonwealth scheme has impacted over 3000 Nigerian alumni since starting.
At a Lagos reception for the returning 2022-2023 scholars, Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter congratulated them and urged upholding the values of Nigeria and the UK.

Ebere Iwuagwu, a Commonwealth energy access fellow, shared discovering the impact of lack of energy in communities. Chevening cybersecurity scholar Jonathan Ayodele said the scholarship provided world-class education and invaluable networking.
