Eko hot blog reports that Ukraine’s recent air attack on Russia’s city of Belgorod has left a trail of destruction, with nearly two dozen houses damaged and a power line affected, according to Russian officials.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the southern Russian Belgorod region, revealed the extent of the damage, stating, “There is one casualty – a woman has received a shrapnel wound to her spine.”
He further detailed that approximately 24 houses and a power line were impacted by the attack.
Russia’s defense ministry reported that 25 missiles launched by Ukraine were intercepted by their air defense systems, aiming to protect the broader Belgorod region.
While the reports have not been independently verified by Reuters, both Ukraine and Russia have acknowledged the ongoing conflict.
Recent strikes on Belgorod have resulted in increased casualties, with a tragic incident on Sunday claiming the lives of fifteen individuals and injuring many more after parts of an apartment block collapsed due to missile debris.
The conflict between the two nations, which began in February 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine, has taken a devastating toll, leading to thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions.
Despite assurances from both sides that civilians are not targeted, Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s military and infrastructure continue, with Kyiv arguing that it is a response to Russia’s relentless attacks.
