Ukraine’s Top Gun Gone, Zelensky Fires Air Force Chief

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has fired his Air Force commander, Mykola Oleshchuk, amid intensifying aerial assaults by Russia.

The move comes after a US-made F-16 fighter jet crashed, killing one of Ukraine’s top pilots, Oleksiy Mes, also known as “Moonfish.”

Zelensky emphasized the need to strengthen the Air Force’s command level, but did not directly link the firing to the crash.

As Ukraine’s air defenses face immense pressure, Zelensky pressed Western countries to boost military support.

The situation remains dire, with displaced people seeking refuge and fierce fighting ongoing in towns like Pokrovsk and Karlivka.

Despite the challenges, Ukraine’s forces remain determined to strengthen their positions and push back against Russian aggression.”
