Umahi Ready To Face Scrutiny Over Coastal Highway Project, Vows Live Probe
  • Minister dismisses concerns, says due process followed
  • Welcomes House probe, plans to televise proceedings live
  • Rejects Atiku’s claim of loan irregularities for the project

Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a bold stance, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared his readiness to undergo a probe over the controversy surrounding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.

He firmly asserted that there is nothing to hide and that due process was followed in obtaining the necessary approvals and documentation.

Umahi’s willingness to face scrutiny comes after the House of Representatives resolved to investigate the N15 trillion project and set up an ad hoc committee for the same.

“I am ready to face the National Assembly to defend the project,” the minister stated, expressing his intent to ensure the exercise is televised live for all Nigerians to witness.

Furthermore, Umahi refuted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s claim that the loan obtained for the project did not follow due process.

“It will be live, so you will also hear it. It will be live so that Nigerians will see it,” he asserted, indicating his commitment to transparency.

However, mindful of the ongoing proceedings in the National Assembly, Umahi chose to refrain from further comments on the matter. “It will be before the National Assembly, and I would not want to comment on it,” he added.
