Umahi To Osinbajo: “We’ll Soon Launch Our Own Security Outfit”

Following the establishment of South West security outfit tagged “Operation Amotekun”,  Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief Dave Umahi on Thursday said the East zone is ready to launch its own regional security outfit.

While addressing the Vice President of the country, Professor Yemi Osinbajo at the Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, the State Capital, Umahi who is also the Chairman of South East Governors forum said the outfit will help to boost the security in the region and adequate security of lives and properties of the people.

Mr. Osibanjo was in the state to flag-off of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Clinics for viable enterprises (MSME Clinics).

Umahi told the Vice President that Governors and other Leaders in the zone were doing everything possible to secure the people of the zone.

According to him, the governors of the region will ensure that the outfit to be unveiled is within the ambit of what the constitution stipulates

He said: “We have been challenged so much in the south east because of security problems. Our people are mainly traders and farmers and when movement is not free, it is a problem and so, security is the problem of everybody, I want to assure that we are doing everything possible together with you and Mr. President to secure our people.

“We will not break the constitution to satisfy our people. We have our own Amotekun with us and we will soon unveil it within the limit of the constitution of the federal republic,” he said.
