UNGA: Nigeria To Address World Leaders On Illicit Financial Flows, Assets Return

Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu will address world leaders today at the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In his speech, he is expected to highlight Nigeria’s efforts towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tackling climate change, and ensuring international peace and security. He will also raise the issue of illicit financial flows and assets return.

Nigeria will also be seeking partnerships in three core areas of technology: Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), Artificial Intelligence (AI) training, and economic diversification through technology.

The minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, said that the country will be seeking partnerships that can boost the USPF, position Nigeria as a hub for AI training, and increase capital inflow to Nigerian startups.

“Nigeria is a country with a vibrant pool of talent, potential, and innovation. We aspire to put Nigeria on the global map as a premier destination for AI model training.” – Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

The UNGA summit is expected to bring together 140 heads of state and government, six vice presidents, four deputy prime ministers, and over 30 ministers of state and chiefs of delegations. Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, will be attending in person and is also expected to speak with Biden in Washington on Thursday.
