Eko Hot Blog reports that the University of Abuja’s ASUU chapter has embarked on an indefinite strike action.

In the wake of this decision, the union aims to shed light on pressing issues. “We had to initiate a total strike immediately,” said Sylvanus Ugoh, branch chairman.

Concurrently, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans for a nationwide protest. Scheduled for May 7th, 2024, the demonstration seeks to address fuel scarcity and power outages.

Akinteye Babatunde, NANS Senate President, expressed disappointment over the ongoing energy crises’ impact on students.

“The government’s failure to tackle these concerns effectively has left us frustrated,” Babatunde stated.

Furthermore, NANS alleges that the leadership of Kyari and Adelabu has severely mismanaged vital resources. This mismanagement, they claim, has plunged the nation into turmoil.

To ensure maximum visibility, the protest will be held simultaneously across various zones. By raising their voices collectively, Nigerian students hope to compel action from the authorities.
