Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Supply and Logistics Specialist, the Supply and Logistics Assistant will ensure the uninterrupted supply of quality goods and services. The role involves supporting logistics operations, procurement, warehousing, and inventory management while adhering to UNICEF’s policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- In-country Logistics:
- Provide input on logistics planning, including infrastructure constraints and delivery mechanisms.
- Monitor and manage demurrages and detention charges; negotiate waivers when needed.
- Track and support pipeline monitoring, customs clearance, and logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, resolving issues and ensuring timely payments.
- Procurement/Contracting:
- Assist in preparing and processing RFQs, ITBs, and RFPs; conduct bid openings and analysis.
- Manage vendor relationships and performance; ensure timely delivery and procurement.
- Monitor and coordinate supply actions in support of UNICEF programs.
- Warehousing and Inventory Management:
- Assess and propose improvements for warehousing capacity and processes.
- Supervise inventory management, including storage, stock reports, and disposal documentation.
- Ensure accurate physical counts, FIFO, and FEFO practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of secondary education, with additional technical or university courses in supply chain management, business administration, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in supply chain management or a commercial context. Experience in development and humanitarian work is advantageous.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN official language or a local language is an asset.
- Desirables: Experience in developing countries or familiarity with emergency contexts.
