Unions Seek Sanwo-Olu’s Intervention On LASPOTECH Crisis

-NASU and SSANIP have called on Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to stop the fresh onslaught on members and union leaders of LASPOTECH

-They mentioned that LASPOTECH management has sent over 48 staff to Ikoyi and Kirikiri prisons on trumped-up charges

-The unions disclosed that since January till this moment, majority of the staff still go home with a negative salary that has led to various psychological trauma on members

Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) have called on Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and well-meaning Lagosians to prevail on management to stop the fresh onslaught on members and union leaders of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).

The SSANIP Chairman, Oluseye Ero-Philips and NASU Treasurer, Ajasa Ahmed disclosed yesterday, that since January till this moment, majority of the staff still go home with a negative salary that has led to various psychological trauma on members.”

They mentioned that LASPOTECH management has sent over 48 staff to Ikoyi and Kirikiri prisons on trumped-up charges, which led to the death of Comrade Owolabi Sunday and another incarcerated fellow, who is presently on partial stroke.

According to them, while the case of four NASU members that were illegally disengaged lingers, the management has vowed not to reverse the illegality despite the governor’s intervention.

The bodies said on Monday, September 24 2019, five members of staff were dismissed as a result of their involvement in the union’s struggle.

“We, therefore, call on his Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the commissioner of education, special adviser to the governor on education and well-meaning Lagosians to come to the aid of LASPOTECH staff.”
