A student of the Abia State University identified as George Nnamdi has been arrested by the university’s security department for faking his own abduction.
Nnamdi, who is a 200-level political science student, confessed after his arrest that he sent a text message to one of his friends around 3 am on Thursday that he has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
He had stated that he was kidnapped alongside other three students to prank his friend.
Also, a 300-level Mass Communication student, Faith Godson, further stated that she received a text message from Nnamdi that he had been abducted.

Godson, who is a friend of the suspect, added that she immediately alerted the university security which swung into action and arrested Nnamdi, noting that the suspect was hiding in his lodge located off the university campus.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the incident was confirmed by the Chief Security Officer of ABSU, ThankGod Evulobi.
He noted that the university security unit received a distress call that a student has been kidnapped and swung into action only to discover that George Nnamdi faked his own kidnap.
Evulobi added that the university senate will take appropriate action against the supposed victim in line with the rules and regulations guiding the institution.
