Unknown Gunmen Kidnap PDP Chieftain In Akwa Ibom

EkoHotBlog reports that Eyo Edet, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Akwa Ibom State.

This online news platform gathered that the PDP chieftain was at his filling station, Eyotech Nigeria Limited when the suspects stormed the premises on Monday and whisked him away in a Sienna vehicle.

A source told our correspondent that Edet, who served as the Deputy Coordinator of PDP’s Divine Campaign Organisation in Oron during the last elections, was later taken into a speed boat and conveyed to an unknown destination.

The source further revealed that the suspects set the Sienna vehicle ablaze in a bid to conceal the crime.

As of the time of filing this report, the source said the abductors had yet to contact Edet’s family to demand ransom.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, while confirming the incident, said the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, had visited the scene and ordered an investigation into the matter.
