Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, has been chosen as the new Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland by the kingmakers. His election has been approved by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The previous Owa-Obokun, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran, passed away in September 2024 after ruling for 42 years, leading to a mourning period and the start of the process to select his successor.

Earlier in December, a court had ordered a pause in the election process due to a legal case, but the kingmakers proceeded to vote on Friday. Prince Haastrup, from the Bilaro Olu-Odo Ruling House, was declared the winner after receiving the highest votes.
The announcement was made by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Felicia Olabimtan, and later confirmed by the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi. Governor Adeleke congratulated the new monarch, urging the people of Ijesaland to support him and maintain peace and unity.

Born on the 19th of September 1948, Prince Haastrup is a politician, Technocrats, business moguls and a members of a royal family in Osun state.
Prince haastrup has kept the pace of success through his visionary leadership style , dedication, kindness and love for others , and these were evident during his tenure as the deputy governor of Osun State.
Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup championed the cause of public sector reforms in Nigeria for many years. He became a heavy weight in the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, The Nigerian Ports Authority, The Federal Housing Authority Nigeria, the Federal Road Management Authority, Department of Solid Minerals Nigeria, as well as other ventures.
He is the founder of the ENL Consortium Limited, which has since developed into a conglomerate. He has also chaired agencies such as the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Electoral Committee for Gubernatorial, Senatorial, and Representative Primary Elections, among others.
Prince Clement Haastrup is a philanthropist with a foundation that has given education scholarships to over 500 students locally and internationally…his love for humanity has seen him empower many across the country and beyond through different projects and humanitarian initiatives.
He says his life is a testimony of God’s ceaseless grace and mercy, which should inspire hope and faith in God.
