Update & Effect Of #June12Protest In Ogun State’s Major Cities [PHOTOS]

  • Yoruba nation agitators stormed Abeokuta on Saturday in continuation of their peaceful rally.

Residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Saturday refused to come out for their daily activities as a result of the June 12 nationwide protest.

The people of Ogun State did not come out for their businesses as they feared being attacked by protesters calling for President Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation and those agitating for Yoruba nation.

According to reports, the Abeokuta metropolis turned a ‘ghost city’ with shops and malls kept under lock and key.

Parks and garages in Abeokuta and other major cities were empty, even as taxi drivers and okada riders stayed in their houses.

EKO HOT BLOG observes that the ever-busy Panseke, Omida, Lafenwa, Kuto, Itoku, Sapon markets and others in the state capital were without buyers or sellers.

Few people who went out resorted to trekking as they found it extremely difficult to get cabs or bikes to transport them.

Locals, who spoke to our correspondent said “we prefer to be in our houses than to come out and die.”

Meanwhile, some Yoruba nation agitators stormed Abeokuta on Saturday in continuation of their peaceful rally.

Likewise, another set of #Buharimustgo protesters were also seen at the NUJ Secretariat, Okelewo around 10am.

This is coming despite Governor Dapo Abiodun’s plea that residents of the state should not engaged in any protest as it could be hijacked by hoodlums.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Gov Abiodun led other government functionaries to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

The event was held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
