UPDATE: Police Arrest Officer Who Allegedly Shot Couple’s Car In Lagos
The Lagos state police command has apprehended the police officer who allegedly fired shots at the moving vehicle of a couple with their children in it, at the Central Business District, Dr Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, in front of Japaul House, Ikeja, Lagos State on Sunday, July 26, Ekohotblog reports.
The video of the damaged car and victim was first shared by One Oyewole on Twitter, who alleged that they are trying to sweep the case under the carpet.
Twitter user @ewejeoyewole, added that the wife of the man who was riding the car, fainted shortly after the officer fired the gunshot that shattered the windshield of their vehicle.
The police officer dressed in a Mobile Police outfit was seen brandishing an AK 47 gun.
Nigerians condemned the action of the police officer, demanding his arrest.

Reacting to the situation, the spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest of the officer.
He said the police are already in contact with the affected family and the destroyed vehicle and nobody was killed.
He added that an investigation has commenced into the incident.
“I am aware of that incident. The policeman is in custody, and we have commenced an investigation into the circumstances that led to that incident. Nobody was injured, nobody was killed” Elkana told ICIR
