Two feared dead as helicopter crashes into building in the Opebi area of Ikeja, Lagos state, Ekohotblog reports
Information reaching us at Ekohotblog confirms that the helicopter marked HEL-BEL 206 and with registration number 5N-BQW, had three passengers on board.
The helicopter was said to have originated from Port Harcourt.
In a new development, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu in a statement confirmed that the incident happened on Friday, August 28.
Oke-Osanyintolu said one of the passengers have been rushed to the hospital while two have now been confirmed dead from the tragic clash.
Oke-Osanyintolu said, “The agency received distress calls concerning a privately operated helicopter that crashed into 16A Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja and immediately activated the emergency response plan.
“The helicopter was carrying three people, one is in the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, while the other two were killed on impact and their bodies have been deposited in a mortuary. We are on top of challenges, especially crowd control. The operation is ongoing and updates will follow.”
