Eko Hot Blog reports that Hon. Wale Raji, the member of the House of Representatives from Epe Federal Constituency, has facilitated the building of a block of six classrooms for UPE Primary School, Akodo-Ise, Epe, Lagos State.
The foundation-laying ceremony on Saturday officially kickstarted the relocation of the school to a new site, a move that was met with excitement by the people of Akodo-Ise, Okun-Ise and Imedu in Ward B1 of Epe Federal Constituency.
Raji, who was represented by the Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Hon. Razak Kasali, said he recently received a call concerning the plight of the primary school pupils whose school is currently being ravaged by ocean surge which has washed off parts of the community, including part of the school premises, hence decided to swing into action to ensure safety of the school children and that their education is not in any way affected.
He also appreciated the community leaders and members for swiftly providing an alternative land for the school. He urged them to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the project is delivered to time.
Senior Legislative Aide to Rep. Wale Raji on Projects and Special Duties, Otunba Wale Olusesi said the contractor is expected to deliver the project within 3 months to ensure the school relocates to the new site as soon as possible.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ass. Prof. Shittu Moruf who is an indigene of the community appreciated the lawmaker for once again proving his mettle as someone who values education by swinging into action to preserve the primary school which is the cradle of knowledge for him and other prominent sons and daughters of the community.
The Supervisor for Environment, Lekki Local Council Development Area, Hon Otuniyi Adeniyi also appreciated the Legislator for the gesture. He however called on the state and federal government to come to the rescue of the communities to avert the current challenge in the community which he attributed to both nature and human activities.
Baale of Okun-Ise, Chief Abolore A. O who spoke on behalf of the community leaders appreciated Rep. Wale Raji for continuously showing distinctive qualities of a good representative and son of the soil. He promised the cooperation of the community members with the contractors handling the project.
