The United States Attorney’s Office at the Central District of California has announced the date renowned internet fraudster Hushpuppi will be sentenced.
Thom Mrozek the court’s Director of Media Relations, said Hushpuppi will be “sentenced” in October 2021.
Recall that Hushpuppi had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in money laundering of funds from business email compromise scams and other online heists.
Owing to copies of the agreement shared by Journalist Evan Ratif, the 38-year-old internet fraudster now faces up to 20 years in prison.
This publication also reported that the United States Department of Justice had said ongoing investigations showed that Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi allegedly bribed Kyari to arrest one Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, one of his accomplices in Nigeria.
In a court document released by the United States Department of Justice on Wednesday, titled: ‘Six Indicted in International Scheme to Defraud Qatari School Founder and then Launder over $1 Million in Illicit Proceeds’, Kyari was said to have been bribed to arrest one Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, 40, in Nigeria, who created bogus documents and arranged for the creation of a fake bank website and phone banking line to support the defrauding of a business person trying to provide $1.1m for the funding of a school in Qatar.
Mrozek, divulged this in an emailed inquiry on Friday, verifying that it ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, to arrest Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, who is being wanted for his likely role in a $1m scam allegedly perpetrated by Hushpuppi and others.
“A U.S. Magistrate Judge has issued arrest warrants for the defendants in the case, including Mr Kyari. This is standard operating procedure in nearly all of the criminal cases filed by this office.
“Hushpuppi is currently scheduled to be sentenced in late October,” Mrozek said.
