Eko Hot Blog reports that despite the US suspension of intelligence and reconnaissance missions in Niger since the July 26, coup, it still sustains its military mark in Niger.

In a recent report, the US is dislodging troops and military equipment in Niger.
A military official said troops will move from Air Base 101 Niamey, Nigerien capital, to Air Base 201 in Agadez, in central Niger from which the US conducts intelligence and reconnaissance missions.
“The move was done out of an abundance of caution and it does not represent a significant change in the overall numbers of military personnel within the country”, said a US official.
The US troops stationed at the airbases in the embassy in Niamey, Niger is about 1,100.
The US in coordination with the Nigerien military moved the equipment and troops between the bases.

Although, the US has yet to describe the political situation in Niger as a coup, it has deployed diplomat Kathleen FitzGibbon for diplomatic mission as it had no ambassador to the country before the coup.
FitzGibbon will focus on preserving constitutional order in Niger which in the long run will effect the release of ousted President Mohammed Bazoum, his family and other who were unlawfully from detention.
