US President Joe Biden has endorsed VP Kamala Harris as his successor.
Eko Hot Blog reports that United States President Joe Biden has endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, to succeed him as the Democratic Party’s nominee.
Biden disclosed his endorsement in a statement on Sunday, shortly after he announced that he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
In announcing his endorsement of Harris, the US president said picking the VP as his running mate in 2020 was the best decision he had made.
He, therefore, offered her his “full support and endorsement”.
“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President.
“And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.
“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.
He also called on Democrats to come together in their effort to defeat Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump.
“Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” Biden added.
Meanwhile, Trump told CNN that it would be easier for him to defeat Harris in the November election.
