Ekohotblog reports that the United States is preparing to revamp its travel regulations on November 8, ushering in a new system that will allow millions of fully vaccinated international visitors to visit the United States.

“The United States’ new travel policy requiring vaccination for foreign national travelers to the United States will go into effect on November 8,” said Kevin Munoz, White House associate press secretary, in a tweet Friday. “This announcement and date applies to both international air travel and land travel. This policy is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent.”

Foreign national air travelers will be required to be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination status in order to fly to the United States, and will be required to show a pre-departure negative test within three days of travel, according to a White House official who was not authorized to speak on the record.

International tourists who cross land borders with Canada and Mexico or travel by passenger ferry for non-essential reasons will also be forced to get vaccinated and provide proof of immunization, according to the White House official. Foreign nationals crossing land borders for both necessary and non-essential reasons will need to be completely vaccinated by January.

The revised travel policy, published on September 20, basically repeals the travel ban that has prohibited most inbound travel from dozens of nations, including most European Union member states, the United Kingdom, and China, since early 2020.
The notice on Friday offers further insight on the forthcoming travel regulation adjustments. The administration first stated that the new regulation will take effect in “early November,” leaving foreign nationals unsure whether to make or alter travel arrangements.
Foreign visitors who have been vaccinated against COVID with a medication authorized by the US Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization can enter the US via air travel under the new international air travel system. The White House official said it expects the same to be true for land travel.

Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal agencies is expected in advance of Nov. 8.
