Usyk Defeats Fury In Heavyweight Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk triumphed in his highly anticipated heavyweight championship rematch against Tyson Fury, securing a unanimous decision victory on Saturday to maintain his undefeated record across two weight divisions and further solidify his legacy in boxing history.

The Ukrainian southpaw, known for his relentless pace and precision, consistently landed his left hook on Fury, earning a 116-112 score from all three judges.

With this win, Usyk improved to an impeccable 23-0 record with 14 knockouts, continuing a storied career that includes an Olympic gold medal and a reign as the undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Only the WBA, WBO, and WBC titles were at stake after Usyk vacated his IBF belt to focus on this lucrative rematch rather than face mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.

Already recognized among the sport’s legends after his initial victory over Fury in May, Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era, joining the ranks of icons like Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, and Mike Tyson.

For the 36-year-old Fury, now holding a record of 34-2-1, the loss clouds his future. Having retired in 2022 before reversing his decision, the defeat raises questions about what lies ahead for the former champion.
