Activist Harrison Gwamnishu is currently being held by police in Benin, Edo State, and social media personality VeryDarkman says he is the one who alerted authorities, triggering the arrest.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a Facebook video released on Friday, he explained that he contacted the police after receiving troubling reports about an incident involving Gwamnishu in Auchi.

He explained that the information he received upset him, leading him to advise those involved to keep it offline, but when a video later appeared online, he questioned its poster, who claimed they shared it to defend themselves from association with the incident.
According to VeryDarkman, Gwamnishu’s reaction video worsened the situation. He accused the activist of trying to mislead the public and play on their emotions, even though, in his view, the facts of the incident were clear.
He added that although police officers had instructed witnesses not to record anything, someone still managed to capture footage showing Gwamnishu returning money connected to the case. He also mentioned that the activist’s truck is currently in police custody.
Addressing speculation that he acted out of envy, the critic insisted he was motivated solely by a desire to uphold the truth.
He noted that he intends to remain quiet on certain aspects of the case for now but expects Gwamnishu to publicly explain what happened once he is released.
If the activist remains silent or evasive, he warned that he may disclose additional information himself.
