VeryDarkMan Seeks Appeal In Defamation Case With Femi, Falz Falana
Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has requested permission from the Lagos State High Court to appeal a recent ruling by Justice M.O. Dawodu, which favored human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, musician Folarin Falana, also known as Falz, in a defamation case.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Falanas had filed a defamation suit over statements allegedly made by Otse in a recorded conversation with cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky allegedly sought legal advice and financial assistance from Falz, including a ₦3 million payment for preferential treatment while detained.
On October 14, the court ordered Otse to remove all defamatory content about the Falanas from his social media platforms, issued an injunction to prevent further defamatory posts, and emphasized compliance with pre-action protocols.
In motions dated October 18 and submitted on Monday, Otse sought an extension to appeal the ruling in two cases, ID/8584/GCM/2024 (involving Falz) and ID/8586/GCM/2024 (with Femi Falana as the respondent).
Otse argued that the court’s order relied exclusively on the Falanas’ affidavit, and he requested that his appeal rights be considered to ensure judicial fairness.

He stated that denying his appeal request could result in enforcing an order that may not fully reflect the law’s application, potentially impacting both the involved parties and the broader judicial system.
