EKO HOT BLOG reports that Napoli and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has named former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, as the player he wants to emulate. The Nigerian football star has described Drogba as his football idol whom he loved watching play while he was growing up as a kid.
In a recent interview with Sport1, Osimhen said: “Didier Drogba is my idol. I loved watching him play as a kid. I always wanted to be like him.”
The 24-year-old has been impressive this season for Napoli. He is currently the top scorer in the Serie A with 13 goals in 24 appearances, and has four goals in the Champions League after scoring a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
In addition to naming his football idol, Osimhen also spoke about his desire to help Napoli win the Serie A title this season, saying: “We want to give the title to Napoli fans. The passion for football here is simply something you can’t describe.”
Osimhen joined Napoli in July 2020 from Lille for a club-record fee of €70 million. He has since established himself as a key player for the Italian side, helping them to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League this season.
