Pro-legalization group, Washington DC Marijuana Justice is giving out free joints at vaccination centers across the District of Columbia. DCMJ said they opted not to list the Joints for Jabs locations to avoid creating lines at vaccine sites.
“DC Marijuana Justice believes that cannabis can help heal the nation and strongly believes that you can help do your part in ending the pandemic by getting vaccinated and assisting others in getting vaccinated,” according to the group’s website.
What inspired the group to put on their “Joints for Jabs” effort? Krispy Kreme’s recent promotion offering free donuts to people who showed proof of vaccination, organizers told WPIX.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, there is a similar event happening in New York City, where recreational marijuana was legalized last month.
Possession of small amounts of marijuana – two ounces or less, to be exact – has been legal in the District since February 2015 for people 21 and over. You can’t buy or sell cannabis in D.C., but you can receive it give it as a gift.

The organization did not provide locations for the giveaway ahead of time, because organizers wanted to avoid lines and crowding due to the pandemic, but volunteers were spotted Tuesday at the Walmart on H Street, near the Washington Convention Center, and on U Street.
