Justice has finally been served and Funke Akindele, her husband along with other guests at the birthday party will spend the next 14 days in an isolation centre.
A Magistrate court sitting in Lagos on Monday sentenced Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello a.k.a JJC Skillz to 14 days community service each.
In addition to the sentence, their bank account is also N200,000.00 lighter as the court also directed them to pay a fine of N100,000 each.
Mrs Aje Afunwa of the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, made the pronouncement today.
Aje Afunwa also said that they will be isolation during their 14 days of community service in a place to be determined by the state.
She added that they must compile the names and phone numbers of everyone who attended the birthday party and submit the same to the court.
Ironically, the offence Funke committed was a contravention of the directive of Lagos State Government.
The cluster of people at the courthouse in violation of the same offence Funke committed is an attestation that Nigerians are yet to grasp the deadly effect of the virus and the need for social distancing as a measure of containment.
Where is social distancing, a perplexed member of the public asked?
