In the motion, Hon Raji said it is sad that seven days after the incident, no arrest has been carried out while reminding the house that the alleged refusal of medical attention to the victim is a violation of the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017.
He also maintained that if the provisions of the relevant laws are enforced and punitive actions were taken against erring doctors and hospitals by the police and medical/professional bodies respectively, the rising tide will long be abated.
He urged the house to direct the Inspector General of Police to investigate, arrest and to prosecute all the perpetrators of this heinous act in line with the relevant provisions of the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017 and the Criminal Code Act.
He also called on the House Committee on Healthcare Services to expeditiously investigate the alleged refusal of the Management of R-Jolad hospital to provide immediate medical attention to Miss Moradeunon on arrival to the hospital which eventually led to her untimely death and report back to the House as soon as possible.
Lastly, he implored the house to observe a one-minute silence in memory of Miss Moradeun Balogun.
The house resolved on those issues as it observed a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.
Moradeun was robbed and stabbed around Charity Bus Stop, Gbagada, on her way from work last week Monday and she died as a result of blood loss.
