Tensions escalated at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting as Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye, both claiming to be the party’s National Secretary, clashed at the event
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP took a dramatic turn as the two rivals confronted each other in front of party officials and journalists.
Ude-Okoye, who arrived after Anyanwu, greeted those on the high table, excluding his opponent, and was later forced out of the meeting by suspected thugs, leading to an altercation.
As journalists were asked to leave for a closed-door session, Ude-Okoye urged his supporters to prevent his ejection.
Outside the secretariat, Ude-Okoye expressed frustration over the injustice of his supporters being denied access while Anyanwu’s men were allowed inside.

It was gathered that both individuals assert their claims to the office, further deepening the divide within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT).
Anyanwu, who left the position to contest the Imo governorship race, has been at odds with Ude-Okoye, who was endorsed by the South East Caucus to replace him.
The legal battle between the two has resulted in an Appeal Court ruling that upheld an earlier High Court decision removing Anyanwu and affirming Ude-Okoye as the authentic secretary.
Despite the court ruling, Anyanwu has filed for a Stay of Execution and Appeal, leading to an impasse within the party. As the situation remains unresolved, the dispute threatens to destabilize the PDP as it resumes operations at its national secretariat after the holiday break.
With the support of some NWC members and BoT leaders, Ude-Okoye is reportedly preparing to assume his duties as National Secretary.

However, Anyanwu maintains that he remains the legitimate officeholder, citing his ongoing appeal to the Supreme Court as grounds for preserving the status quo.
