EKO HOT BLOG reports that residents in Anambra are panicking ahead of the November 6 governorship election slated to hold in the state after a call from a pro-Biafran group; IPOB, for people to boycott the polls.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, had earlier ordered a major overhauling of the security apparatus in the State.
The overhauling includes the deployment of selected seasoned Strategic Commanders from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and above to Anambra State for effective supervision of security personnel and operations in the Elections.
In a video shared online by Vanguard and monitored by EKO HOT BLOG, some students of Oko Poly could be seen in fear and panic as security operatives parade in a show of force to send a message of readiness ahead of the Saturday Poll.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the police will deploy a total of 34, 587 personnel including two DIGs, five AIGs, 92 other top officers and three helicopters to Anambra for the election.
The Police boss’ stance came as the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, said it had neither made any official statement on the poll nor called for its boycott, contrary to several blackmailing statements against the group.
As voters in Anambra state go to the polls to elect a new governor this weekend, EKO HOT BLOG will continue to keep you updated as the event unfolds.
