Violate New Transport Guidelines, Face Prosecution — LASTMA

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has warned that whoever is caught violating the new transport guidelines from Monday, 4 May 2020, will be ridiculed for doing so.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olajide Oduyoye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, 2 May 2020, in Lagos that the authority would deploy its operation personnel to regulate traffic and arrest any violator of government commands.

Oduyoye added that LASTMA would not be lenient with any motorists that violated the rules and also warned that passers-by without a genuine business on the road would not be exempted from being arrested.

“We are already in the mood of enforcing whatever regulation may be in place by the government. This new enforcement is just an elongation to what we have been doing with these new guidelines.

“Come Monday, I see a whole lot of people coming out for no just reason. However, just like the police and other law enforcement agencies, LASTMA will come out to control traffic and arrest violators of the new transport guidelines.

“No motorist should run foul the guidelines. If you are driving when you are not supposed to be on the road, you will be arrested. You will be arrested in such a manner that you will feel the pains,” Oduyoye said.

According to him, violators will feel pains when they are denied access to use the vehicles for some time.

Oduyoye urged private and public transport operators to operate within the specified guidelines and period, observing all precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
