EKO HOT BLOG reports that a viral web video that erroneously claimed collaboration of its officers in a bus burning event in the Obanikoro neighborhood on Ikorodu Road has been refuted by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
In a statement, LASTMA General Manager Bolaji Oreagba expressed sympathy for the owner of the vehicle but emphatically denied that any of its police were involved in the event, pointing out that LASTMA patrol officers nearby attempted to help put out the fire but were attacked by a mob.
He emphasized that there was no proof of LASTMA officers’ collusion or involvement in the viral video, noting that those examined were neither eyewitnesses nor participants in the incident but rather locals who were not present at the time.

Oreagba announced that the State Government will now arrest and prosecute anyone attacking its officials while they are carrying out their statutory obligations as stipulated by State law or as directed. He did this while denouncing the unjustified attacks on its officers throughout the State.
In order to promote a tranquil and orderly society, the general manager also gave reporters and bloggers the advice to always conduct thorough investigations and convey facts rather than sentiments in their reporting.
