‘Vital Security Strategies’ Discussed As Sanwo-Olu Convenes Lagos Security Council Meeting

Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has convened a state security council meeting.

The governor made the disclosure in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday.

The security meeting, which held at the State House Marina, Lagos, discussed “vital strategies” to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of the state.

The meeting was attended by members of the state executive council such as the Chief of Staff the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde; Director, Civil Litigation, Mr. Hammed Oyenuga; Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Razaq Balogun.

Security chiefs in Lagos, including the Commander Air Force Base, Olasunkanmi Abu; Commander, 9th brigade Brig. Gen. A.M. Adetuyi; Commissioner for Police, AIG Idowu Owohunwa, and Commander NNS Beecroft, Cdr. K.O. Ohuntuga, also attended the meeting.

“Today [Tuesday], I had the privilege of convening the Lagos State Security Council meeting at the State House Marina. Our commitment to the safety of Lagosians remains unwavering,” the governor wrote on X.

“I was joined by esteemed members of the Executive Council and dedicated Security Chiefs; Commander Air Force Base Olasunkanmi Abu; Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde; Commander, 9th brigade Brig. Gen. A.M. Adetuyi; Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin; AIG Idowu Owohunwa; Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Razaq Balogun; Commander NNS Beecroft, Cdr. K.O. Ohuntuga; and Mr. Hammed Oyenuga, Director, Civil Litigation.”

“We discussed vital strategies to ensure the security and well-being of our great state.”

The meeting came after calls by the Lagos State House of Assembly in August, urging him to convene the overdue meeting with the security council of the state due to the wanton killing of citizens by law enforcement personnel.

Recall that the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, stressed that the security of lives and property is one essence of government.

“Where we begin to have one, two, three killings in the state, it definitely calls for concern,” Obasa said.

“I quite agree with the prime mover of the motion to call on Mr Governor to quickly hold a meeting with all heads of security agencies in Lagos State to nip this in the bud.

“At least three people have been declared dead, said to be killed by men in either police or Army uniforms and we cannot conclude if they are security men or otherwise.”
