VP Osinbajo To Declare Open 3rd Diaspora Investment Summit

Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is set to declare open the 3rd Diaspora Investment scheduled to hold November 20 and 21, 2020 in Abuja.

Addressing Journalists at a Press Conference ahead of the event, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the two-day Summit is to create an avenue for prospective, meaningful and sustainable Diaspora Investment to be relied upon to boast economic growth in Nigeria.

It will also showcase investment opportunities and developmental framework put in place to make Nigeria more attractive to Nigerian Diaspora investors.

The theme of the 3rd Summit is: “POST COVID-19 ECONOMIC RESURGENCE: TARGETING DIASPORA INVESTMENT and is expected to attract Diaspora investors from the following sectors: Healthcare, Education, Agric-business, Creative, Sports and Entertainment, Telecom, ICT/Fintech and Manufacturing sectors.

Hon. Abike also explained that the summit will also be an avenue to establish a platform where Diaspora investors can interact with potential sponsors that can collaborate with the government that have direct deals for uniform benefits: “Diaspora investors and potential investors all over the world are expected to participate and financial intermidiaries who have an interest and commitment to the resurgence and revival of the Nigerian economy”, she stressed.

The NIDCOM boss stated further that: “a lot will be benefitted from this summit as it will help to strengthen profile, expand networks, showcase products and practice, help you meet key decision makers amongst others”.

The NIDCOM Chairman/CEO believes that the timing is right as it’s a virtual summit that will bring Diaspora investors together, discuss their challenges and find solutions to Challenges of Post COVID-19 Economic Resurgence.

The Chairperson, Nigerian Diaspora Summit Initiative, (NDSI), Dr. Badewa Adejugbe- Williams noted that there is no better time for the summit than now as it will attract investors to the country and this trial moment that the nation needs to focus on the social and economic imperatives of our country.

The Summit is expected to attract over 3,000 participants and attendance is free.
