EKO HOT BLOG reports that a legislator representing Epe Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives and Chairman, House Services Committee, Hon. Tansir Olawale Raji, has dedicated his award to the founding fathers of the first secondary school in Epe Division, Epe Grammar School.

Hon. Wale Raji disclosed this while reacting to the prize tagged “Best EGOSA Member Intervention Project 2019 Till Date,” presented to him by a former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Sabit Ikuforiji at the Epe Grammar School Old Students Association (EGOSA) Biennial Conference held on Saturday, 12th March 2022.

“I thank you for this recognition. I consider it a duty. I would have disappointed you if I had the opportunity to intervene and attract projects to Epe Grammar School but failed to do so. It would have been a disappointment and I would have let down the founding fathers, who in their wisdom, found no other motto for this great institution other than ‘we study to serve.’

“We were taught to be able to contribute our quota to the development of our society and the opportunity came and we thank God we are able to do so. This award is dedicated to the founding fathers of Epe Grammar School and all the Old Students,” he declared.

This online media platform gathered that the lawmaker earlier planted a coconut tree in honour of the old students of the school and that his award was solely based on his immeasurable impacts in the school.

Speaking earlier in his goodwill message, the legislator admonished all Old Students to endeavour to give back to the school, stating that the Founding fathers of the school had played their part and left.

“It is important for us to discharge our responsibilities by making sure that we give all we can to support the school in such a way that we don’t refer to the good old days. Let’s make today better than yesterday,” he charged.

He stated further that the alumni members should not only focus on monetary contributions but also individual influence and connection. He also used the medium to admonish the alumni association executives to always reach out to others to sponsor more students for scholarship programmes.

While he admitted that members of the alumni association can only act appropriately when they are duly informed about plans and programmes, he emphasised that better results would be achieved through collective efforts.
