In a recent exclusive interview granted to TVC news correspondent in the National Assembly, Tijesu Adeoye, the Legislator representing Epe Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Rep. Wale Raji in his capacity as the Chairman, House Services committee which sees to the smooth running of legislative house and welfare of legislators, gave reasons for the delayed resumption of plenary in the House of Representatives.
He attributed this chiefly to the ongoing renovation works on the edifice.
He was also asked if he will be participating in the upcoming APC primaries which he answered in the affirmative. He said the positive feedback and encouragement from constituents, party leaders and community leaders to complete the variety of Educational, Health, Market, and Infrastructure development projects that are currently at different stages of development across Epe Federal Constituency necessitated his desire to seek reelection.
Rep. Wale Raji said his constituents have had a taste of abandoned projects in the past and wouldn’t want a repeat of it hence the clamour for his return once more to complete them and hand them over to another capable hand who will continue from where he stops.
Specifically, he said the contract for the construction of the 2nd phase of the Epe – Ketu – Itoikin road which will come with a new bridge has been awarded by the Federal Executive Council and the contractor will move to the site. This is a continuation of the already completed 5km 1st phase of the road which was facilitated by him through a good working relationship with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. He also said the procurement process for the construction of the Ayetoro market has been concluded and work will commence soon.
Furthermore, he said the reconstruction of the Siwola road in Eredo LCDA which connects Odosiwola, Ibonwon, Ilara and other communities around that axis to the Epe – Ijebu-ode expressway is currently in the procurement phase. He also said, the Upgrading of Itoikin and Mowowale markets in Ikosi- Ejinrin LCDA are currently in the procurement process. Other projects he mentioned include more Education intervention projects, Health facilities etc.
He said these projects run into billions and may take more than a single budget cycle to complete hence his readiness to accede to the request of his constituents to participate in the upcoming electoral process that would see him return to the 10th National Assembly as a ranking member to further enhance the development currently being witnessed in different parts of Epe Federal Constituency.
Speaking further, Rep. Wale Raji said aside from the 13 Educational Intervention Projects ranging from ICT centres, Hostels, Classrooms etc commissioned by the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, RT Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila a few weeks ago, a new set of projects are ready for commissioning. They include a 20-bed Primary Healthcare Centre in Iraye, a Science laboratory at Igbooye Community High School and others.
He said, besides the ongoing monthly “Elders Welfare Scheme” where senior citizens above 70 years get #10,000 naira monthly, Grassroots Traders Scheme were 1100 Women traders got #25,000 each totalling #27,500,000 to support their businesses, periodic Youth centred vocational and skills development training, certification and cash support, more direct economic benefit projects such as Sustainable Grassroots Empowerment Programme where 32 Cooperative groups of 1280 persons have so far been registered and would soon be supported to the tune of 2 million naira per group totalling 64 million naira is set for launch in May. A bursary scheme for students, health insurance scheme etc are also in the pipeline for his constituents.
