The one-week coronation ceremony, which climaxed with a grand finale on Saturday, witnessed eminent figures and community leaders such as the Member of House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Wale Raji; former Speaker of the Lagos State of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye; the Aremo of Epe Kingdom, Otunba TJ Abass, amongst others.
In an interview with Eko HotBlog and other media outlets, Hon. Raji spoke of his long-standing acquaintance with Oba Oliwo, tracing their connection back to their secondary school days.
He reminisced about the monarch’s seniority in school and his unwavering commitment to community leadership.
“Today, as he’s being crowned Kabiyesi of his community, it’s a calling to a higher responsibility and an opportunity for him to do more for his community,” the lawmaker said.
Hon. Raji conveyed these words on behalf of the members of his constituency, offering congratulations not only to Oba Oliwo but also to the people of Odo-Egiri and the entire Epe community.
He emphasised the special relationship he shared with Odo-Egiri and envisioned a future of continued collaboration for the betterment of all.
On his part, Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Akinloye, who chaired the coronation ceremony, expressed excitement that Odo-Egiri got a king during his tenure.
“I feel very happy for his HRM Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo because his coronation happened during my tenure,” he said.
“This is what Odo-Egiri has been longing for, but to God be the glory it happened during my tenure. Kabiyesi is a man of the people; he wants the best for his people, and being the Kabiyesi of Odo-egiri, he will be able to do the best.
“He has been given autonomy and power; I know he’s going to lead them and represent them well now. Currently, there’s a lot of developmental projects going on within the community; along Wastab Road, there’s a big structure there from the federal government, and three months ago, we commissioned a very laudable project here in Odo-Egiri.”
Akinloye earnestly admonished the community to provide their unwavering support to their new king.
Similarly, Rt. Hon. Ikuforiji congratulated Oba Oliwo and the people of Odo-Egiri for the landmark occasion.
“We thank God that we are witnessing this today; it’s a thing of joy for all of us. We waited for it for so long, but to God be the glory,” he said.
The former Lagos speaker further emphasised Oba Oliwo’s commitment to the community.
“HRM Oba Musiliu has always been a man of the people; he’s someone who always wants the progress of the community, also wanting the best for all the sons and daughters of this community, so we pray to God that his tenure will usher us into the period of peace and progress for Odo-egiri and all the children of this community,” Rt. Hon. Ikuforiji added.
In the same vein, Otunba Abass congratulated the people of Odo-Egiri for their patience and resilience over the years as they waited for their first king.
“I am here today to felicitate with the people of Odo-Egiri, and I want to congratulate them for their patience and resilience despite the challenges,” he said.
“They never gave up, and the day they had long awaited has finally arrived, marking the coronation of Gbadewolu I, Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo. I wish him the very best for the journey ahead.”
