Member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Wale Raji has hailed the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s President-Elect as a much-needed “panacea.”
Raji stated this in a congratulatory message to Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday after a feisty and eventful build-up to the 3-horse race.
According to the lawmaker, the challenges that have been experienced in the country in the past few years have been dire and unique, such that the polity has been put on a knife’s edge. This, he said, informed the need for a unifier who would douse the tensions among Nigeria’s fragmented ethnicities to build a prosperous nation.
He said Tinubu’s antecedents, which is inextricably linked to the growth of Nigeria’s most prosperous state, places him firmly on the launchpad to build a Nigeria that will work for all.
Raji said, “If you look at Lagos. Asiwaju’s name has become synonymous to the prosperity of the state. Today, Lagos State has become a home for all. It has become a place where people from all nooks and crannies of the country, young and old, come for greener pastures.
You find successful people of all extraction in Lagos, not only one particular tribe. That is the kind of country Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will build. A country that will work for all Nigerians, irrespective of your tribal affiliations or religious creed.
Raji, who further noted that the race for the nation’s top job, which was fiercely contested by followers of three major political ideologies should not be allowed to fester into bitterness and hatred, as this would not augur well for the country.
He noted that within the fierce competition for the highest office in the land lies the commonality between all of us, which is the undeniable fact that we are all in the “race for a better Nigeria.”
To this end, the lawmaker enjoined all aggrieved Nigerians to bury their hatchets and lend support to Nigeria’s president-elect who would require the cooperation of all Nigerians to build a strong and prosperous nation.
“We all have to be co-architects in this journey. It is very important that we look at the big picture, which is the growth and prosperity of this country.
“Even if you join the japa train and leave Nigeria today, you will still be a Nigerian who will be connected to the fortunes of this great nation. So it’s very important that “we do not sacrifice the chances of building a great country on the altar of bitterness and despair,” Raji stated further.
He also urged Lagosians to throng out en masse during the forthcoming gubernatorial and state assembly election to renew the mandate of the APC to ensure a continuity of the mega-city master plan laid out by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The lawmaker’s message comes after successfully winning his reelection bid to represent Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives for a record third haul.
