Wale Raji Confirms FG’s Plan To Upgrade Epe Fish Market

Member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Wale Raji, has confirmed that the Federal Government has perfected plans to ameliorate the Epe fish market in Lagos State.

Wale Raji, who was speaking during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe on Sunday said that millions of naira has been appropriated in the 2022 budget for the upgrade of Epe fish market as well as other projects under the constituency project.

According to the lawmaker, other projects that would complement the upgrade of Epe fish market include the construction of stalls at Ilara, Ketu and Aiyetoro markets in the Division.

Wale Raji said the idea behind the augmentation of the fish market is to raise its standard to an international market that would bolster its economic dimension in exponential proportions.

“The Itoikin market scheme has begun, the highlighted projects are basic necessity needs of the people in the area.

“Residents have been clamouring for the facelifting of the heritage Epe fish market to international standard.

“Also, Ilara community are in need of market stores, which will be equally provided as well as the provision of market stores at Itoikin and ketu neighborhood.

“This are communities under Epe constituency and the projects are provided for them to benefit from the dividend of democracy and good governance,” he said.
He stated that the stalls would be allotted to traders and market women at no cost other than payment of standard ticket fees to the local council.

“The idea is to ease difficulties being experienced by market women and traders in paying for the rent.”

Wale Raji also added that the federal government is working exceedingly hard to assuage the plight of the populace via other empowerment schemes like conditional cash grants for the elderly, creation of employment opportunities for the youths and construction of six blocks of classrooms in public schools, amongst other initiatives.

He also noted that there are other plans in the offing aimed at re-modeling the socio-economic outlook of the Division.
