Eko Hot Blog reports that in a concerted effort to alleviate the plight of vulnerable households within the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the council authorities, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, organized a comprehensive food palliative distribution program that reached out to 1,000 residents across the community.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, was directly aligned with the directive of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who has consistently prioritized the welfare of Lagosians, particularly during challenging economic times.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the council secretariat, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting its citizens. “The government has a solemn responsibility to alleviate the suffering of our residents during these challenging times,” he said. “We are deeply grateful for the dedicated leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Hamzat, who have consistently placed the well-being of Lagosians at the forefront of their agenda.”
The food palliatives were distributed to a diverse group of beneficiaries, carefully selected from community-based organizations, traditional authorities, religious bodies, artisans, market associations, security agencies, people living with disabilities, youth organizations, NIREC, transport union, students’ Union, and local government staff, CDA/CDC amongst others.
One of the recipients, Mrs. Fatima Balogun, a widowed mother of four, expressed her profound gratitude for the timely intervention. “This food palliative comes as a great relief during these trying times. As a single parent, I have been struggling to make ends meet, and this gesture from the government will go a long way in easing the burden on my family. I am truly thankful for this act of kindness.”
Similarly, Mr. Segun Adeyemi, a disabled resident of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, conveyed his appreciation for the inclusivity of the program. “I am grateful that the council has not forgotten the plight of people like myself. This food pack will make a significant difference in sustaining my household, and I commend the leadership for their compassion and care for the vulnerable members of our community.”
Hon. Sylvester Oluwadahunsi Ogunkelu, representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Hamzat, and Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa for their dedicated leadership. He highlighted the successful synergy between the Legislature and the Executive, which has translated into effective governance for the people of Lagos State.
“The collaborative efforts of the Lagos State Government and the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA leadership in delivering this food palliative program is a testament to the commitment to improving the welfare of our constituents,” said Hon. Ogunkelu. “I commend the unwavering dedication of Governor Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Hamzat, and the Speaker for their tireless work in ensuring that the needs of Lagosians are addressed with utmost priority.”
The recipients expressed their heartfelt gratitude as prayers were offered for the LCDA, Lagos State, and Nigeria in general, underscoring the profound impact of this initiative on the lives of the beneficiaries.
