BY: Waleola Kolawole

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Apex- Leader in Epe Division, Alhaji (Chief) Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki, Popularly known as Bamu, on August 10, 2021, led both the Federal and State Lawmakers, representing Epe Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja, and Epe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Tasir Raji and Hon. Abiodun Mustain Tobun, respectively, to the Local Government; where they had a close door meeting with the new Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon.(Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun.

Also present at the meeting was APC leader, the Alakoso of Epe Kingdom, Barr. Omodele Ibrahim. The lawmakers also met with newly elected councillors to understand their administrative blueprint as they take over the reins of authority.

After meeting with the newly elected officials, the Parliamentarians proceeded to the Health Department of the Council. The Council Manager, Mr. Olakunle Olanrewaju, joined by the Council Medical Officer, Dr. Nurain Aiyeola, and other Heads of Departments took the August Visitors round the Centre for meticulous bouts of inspection.

Hon. Surah Animashaun, newly elected Epe Local Government Chairman, while speaking with newsmen described the visit as a “Familiarization and Inspection” visit. She said the APC leaders and the Lawmakers representing the good people of the Council at both federal and state levels had only come around to ascertain state of things in the Council, to understand how to best support the Council.

According to her, the support of the respected Lawmakers would go a long way in helping her administration deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorates.

Princess Animashaun, who said the inspection was the last to be carried out, noted that all properties and projects of the Council had been previously inspected. She explained that the inspection was very imperative for the visitors to know the areas of frailty and how to fix them.

On the news making rounds that the new Chairman had laid off the Non – Pensionable Staff of the Council, She stated that “It is not that we are laying them off. We have almost 600(Six Hundreds) Non Pensionable Staff, and we want to ensure that there are no Ghost Workers amongst this figure. So, we have told them to reapply immediately we terminated their appointment; so that we can reemploy them. The termination was only done to check Ghost Workers.”
