Walson-Jack Head Of Civil Service
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, succeeding Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who retired on August 13, 2024.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the brief ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.
Walson-Jack’s appointment, approved by President Tinubu in July 2024, comes after her distinguished service as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education. She has held several significant positions since her appointment as a Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017.
During a recent Town Hall meeting organized by the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) to honor her departure, the outgoing Head of Service, Yemi-Esan, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.

Reflecting on her tenure, she acknowledged the support of former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu, as well as the dedication of her team of transformative Permanent Secretaries.
Walson-Jack takes over with a wealth of experience and is expected to continue the ongoing reforms in the civil service, building on the foundation laid by her predecessor, Yemi-Esan, who began her tenure in September 2019 after replacing the suspended Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita.
