EKO HOT BLOG reports that Russian President, Vladimir Putin was left incandescent with rage after his army wiped out their own soldiers in yet another friendly-fire fiasco.
Russia’s army has met fierce resistance from Ukrainian troops ever since Vladimir Putin took the disastrous decision to invade his western neighbour.
Putin’s troops have suffered massive casualties, with Ukrainian officials estimating that over 93,000 Russian soldiers have died since hostilities commenced on February 24.
Not only have Russians died at the hands of their enemy, but now it appears they are also being killed on an increasingly regular basis by their own side.
Throughout the almost 10-month war, numerous reports have emerged of so-called friendly fire incidents by the Russians.
In the latest case, 14 soldiers from the 1st Army Corps were killed when their tent was shelled by a Russian artillery unit towards the end of November.
Another seven of their comrades were reported injured in the shelling.
The incident occurred on the outskirts of Tsukuba in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.
Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov confirmed details of the friendly fire attack at a recent press briefing held by Ukraine’s General Staff
The independent Russian media outlet Astra claimed that the army is detaining deserters in basement prisons.
On Wednesday, Putin dismissed the allegations as “nonsense” and “fake news”.
However, Astra said it had located at least 12 places where Russian refuseniks were being detained.
Most of these were situated in the Donbas region in the eastern part of the country.
In a post to their Telegram channel, Astra said: “We have already found 12 places where Russian refuseniks are being held or were held in the ‘Luhansk and Donetsk’s People Republics’.
“The earliest evidence of a basement for the Russian military that we were able to find dates back to May 2022.
“At that time, soldiers were kept in a basement in Novotroitsky in the ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’.
“We were able to obtain a video filmed in this basement in May 2022. In the summer of 2022, Russian refuseniks began to be placed in a basement in Bryanka in the ‘Luhansk People’s Republic’.
“The first Russian mobilised people that we were able to find out about were brought to the basements in October 2022. For the first time, Astra showed a video from such basements in Rubizhne and Kremennaya. Then we talked about the prison in Perevalsk.
“Later, the conscripts began to be taken to the basement in Zaytsevo, Luhansk region, where about 300 people were kept.
“At the moment, almost all the prisoners from it were taken to the territory of the Russian Federation or to other camps.”
