Russian troops are reportedly using ‘dummy retreats’ in an attempt to lure Ukrainian forces into a trap.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Russian troops are pretending to retreat from certain areas of Kherson in a bid to lure advancing Ukrainian forces into a trap, the military’s southern command said on Saturday.
The Ukrainian armed forces have been making sweeping gains in recent days towards liberating the port city but are wary of a street battle.

The force said on the right bank of the Dnipro River, the fleeing occupiers were attempting to set up defensive lines as it digs in for winter, planting mines on the coast and evacuating the local population.
It added in an update that the Russian forces had fired S300 anti-aircraft missiles at the recently-liberated settlements in Berislav, in the Kherson region.
The southern command said the Russian military was “trying to create the impression of retreat” while using “tactics of multi-faceted manoeuvres in the occupied territories”.
However, the Ukrainian forces were able to destroy a tugboat and damage two other vessels on a crossing near the Antonivsky bridge.

The military division’s press spokesperson, Natalya Humeniuk, said: “We understand that they are trying to create the effect that they are not there, to lure our defence forces into certain settlements, and settlements are always difficult street battles.”
