WATCH: All Key Moments From Grand Finale Of 2023 Epe Kayokayo Festival
The 2023 Epe Kayokayo festival wrapped up on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in a Grand Finale that was grand in all sense of the word.
The event concluded a weeklong festival that witnessed several programmes, including a Quranic recitation contest, novelty match, youth rally, children’s party, amongst others.

The grand finale, which included a carnival and a special reception, featured captivating cultural performances from various groups and individuals.

Before the grand finale, the Waka Queen, Alhaja Ibiwunmi Salawa Abeni performed at the Epe Ogunmodede Club, Epe, on Friday as part of the weeklong Kayokayo celebration. Watch her enthralling performance here.
Also, on Friday, one of the festival’s sponsors, Eagle Schnapps made a presentation to His Royal Majesty, the Olu-Epe of Epe, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale. Watch him address the monarch here.
Here are the key highlights from the grand finale:
1. Popular Fuji singer, Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Malaika, better known as KS1 Malaika performed live at the 2023 Kayokayo Festival Grand Finale at the Marina Waterfront, Epe. Watch his performance here.
2. Before KS1 Malaika’s performance, Alhaji Amuda Yusuf performed to usher in the fuji singer. Watch his performance here.
3. Seaman Schnapps, one of the sponsors of the 2023 Epe Kayokayo festival, held a food competition amongst communities in Epe Division. Watch the competition unfold here and here.
4. What’s an Epe cultural event without the lighting of the famous Etufu? It was the light the exiled Oba Kosoko of Lagos used to find his way into Epe in 1851. The Olu-Epe of Epe, Oba Adewale, lit the legendary light at the grand finale of the 2023 Epe Kayokayo festival. Watch him light the Etufu here.
5. The Coordinator of the 2023 Epe Kayokayo festival, Otunba TJ Abass delivered a welcome address to the attendees, where he thanked and prayed for the festival’s sponsors and donors. Watch the Aremo of Epe’s speech here.
