Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, sang praises of his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at his 60th birthday party.
Sanwo-Olu, who was present at the party, thanked God for his grace in Ambode’s life as he achieved the milestone.
In a toast to the celebrant whom the Lagos governor described as a “gentleman”, he expressed hope that the former governor will still be called to serve his people.
“We want to thank God for keeping you hale and hearty for 60 years. We want to thank God for your time in the service of Lagos State. [We thank God] for your commitment to building our nation and our state,” he said.
“God will grant you the grace of a long age in good health and sound mind. And that even, you will be called upon to come and serve your people, to come and serve mankind and humanity. God will give you the grace to be able to do that.”
Responding to Sanwo-Olu’s kind words, Ambode thanked him for his kindness, while praying for God to strengthen his courage and ability to deliver the greater good for Lagos State.
“What you have done today is pleasing to our heart. We are very pleased, we are happy,” he said.
