NYSC: Why We Ranked Lagos As Most Friendly State
This was revealed during a three-day retreat for Directors and Heads of Departments/Units of the Commission aimed at reviewing its activities and charting a new way forward.
Speaking at the retreat, the Chairman of TESCOM, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo said that the essence of the retreat is to review past activities and achievements in a bid to draw workable strategies that will improve the teaching service and move the education sector forward.
This, she said, was necessary to achieve an effective education system where students will practically fit into the ever-dynamic society.
In her words: “Our aim is to evolve an effective educational system where all teachers are qualified and dedicated to their jobs and can tailor an approach to each student in order to provide them with skills required to thrive in the ever-changing workplace”.
She noted that this can only be achieved if the Commission continues the selective and rigorous recruitment process coupled with professional excellence while ensuring a secured retirement package for the workforce.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun stated that the retreat was a clarion call on everyone to contribute their quota to the development of the education sector.
“This retreat was designed to amplify our roles as education administrators and policymakers who should be able to visualise, strategise and execute policies and programmes that will bring about positive transformation in the education sector in line with the administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda”, she affirmed.
