The NFF has been widely criticized for its inability to pay salaries on time, with reports indicating that Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, and Super Falcons counterpart, Randy Waldrum, have experienced delays in receiving their wages.

Furthermore, players from various national teams have also reportedly been affected, as camp allowances and match bonuses remain unpaid.

Ademola Olajire, the Director of Communications for the NFF, openly admitted the financial challenges faced by the organization, stating that the football body is currently cash-strapped and unable to fulfill its financial obligations. However, he emphasized that efforts are underway to address the outstanding payment issues and resolve the financial difficulties.

“The NFF has been facing huge financial challenges, and there is an ongoing effort to resolve all the issues relating to unpaid wages,” said Olajire in a statement to BBC Sport Africa. “It is unfortunately not something to be proud of, and the new board of the federation is working hard to resolve the problems.”

The delayed payments have raised concerns within the football community, as the NFF’s failure to meet its financial commitments has adversely impacted the coaches and players. Timely and regular payment of salaries, allowances, and bonuses is crucial to maintaining the morale and motivation of the national team members, as well as ensuring the smooth functioning of the teams.
