‘We Are Occupying Our Own Facility In Lagos’ – DSS Denies Barricading EFCC Office

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that its personnel denied operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) access to its office in Lagos.
In response to the allegations, Peter Afunanya, spokesperson for the DSS, stated that the agency was occupying its own facility where it was carrying out an operation.

He clarified this point in a WhatsApp message on Tuesday, saying, “It is not correct that the DSS barricaded EFCC from entering its office. No. It is not true.
The Service is only occupying its own facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.”
Afunanya also addressed concerns about the ownership of No 15A Awolowo Road, the location in question. He explained that there is no controversy over the building’s ownership, despite what some media outlets might suggest.
Furthermore, he expressed surprise at the idea that the EFCC might be contesting the building’s ownership: “Did the EFCC tell you it is contesting the ownership of the building? I will be surprised if it is contesting the ownership.
Awolowo Road was NSO headquarters. SSS/DSS started from there. It is a common knowledge. It is a historical fact. Check it out.”
Finally, Afunaya debunked claims of a rivalry between the DSS and the EFCC. He stressed that the two agencies are working together as partners to serve the nation’s interests:
