We Are Still In Nigeria, 15 Chinese Doctors Debunk Departure Rumours

The Chinese Embassy has said that the medical doctors invited to support the Nigerian government’s efforts against COVID-19 are still around in the country.

The embassy is reacting to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Chinese doctors have returned home to China.

According to the statement signed by its spokesperson, Ferdinand Nwonye, the ministry had said that the airplane that took the Chinese doctors back home brought back Nigerians stranded in China.

But the spokesperson for the Chinese embassy, Sun Siaxiong, on Sunday denied the statement made by the Nigerian government that the doctors had left the county ‘unnoticed.’

Siaxiong also debunked the report of the medical experts sneaking out of Nigeria, adding that the doctors “are still much around here in Abuja.”

“It is untrue that they have left Nigeria. Their coming to the country was to assist the CCECC to prevent the pandemic outbreak in the company and also to extend their hands to Nigeria in experience sharing and management of COVID-19 pandemic,” he told Premium Times.
