‘We Gave Each Other Trust And Freedom’ – Will Smith Speaks On His Marriage With Jada Pinkett

American actor Will Smith has finally addressed the long-standing rumours that he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have an open marriage.

In an interview for the November issue of GQ, the movie star revealed that their marriage started off as monogamy but later evolved.

Will said, “Jada never believed in conventional marriage … Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship.

“So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up.

“There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple?

“And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”

Smith said that while this unique dynamic had worked for them, he wouldn’t recommend it for others. According to the 53-year-old movie star, the freedom and unconditional love that he enjoys with Jada is the highest definition of love for him.

“We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way,” he said. “And marriage for us can’t be a prison. And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody. But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”

Recall that Jada singer August Alsina claimed in 2020 that he gave years of his life to Jada in a romantic relationship with Will Smith’s blessing. Later that day, reps for Jada call Alsina’s claims absolutely not true.

On her Red Talk show, Jada confirms that she had a relationship with August, but denies that Will ever gave his blessing, claiming the two were separated at the time.
